Abstract

Purpose : To get a effective clinical data about refractive error we compared the monocular refraction with the binocular refraction on 47 myopic students aged between 18 and 26 years.
Method : The college students without abnormal binocular function were tested on the dominant eye test, accommodation lag, monocular refraction and binocular refraction with HIC test.
Results : There was statistical differences in accommodative lags between dominant(0.58¡¾0.67D) and non-dominant eye(0.70¡¾0.62D)(p=0.043). The mean value of the binocular refraction using HIC method is less as dominant(-0.24¡¾0.29D) and non-dominant eye(-0.26¡¾0.28D) than the one of the monocular refraction.
Conclusions : This results indicates that the prescription on dominant and non-dominant eyes should be cautious based on the refraction and binocular function tests.
